Two Ukrainian nationals were jailed for conspiring to carry out arson attacks linked to Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer. The case was heard at the Old Bailey in London, with the sentencing following a Monday conviction.

Roman Lavrynovych, 22, was jailed for seven years. Stanislav Carpiuc, 27, received a two-year sentence. A third man, Petro Pochynok, 35, was found not guilty of conspiracy to commit arson.

The assaults were carried out on behalf of Russia, according to previous BBC reporting. In May 2025, a Toyota once owned by Starmer was set ablaze in north London.

Days later, two homes were set on fire, including one rented to the prime minister’s sister-in-law, which reportedly remained Starmer’s property.

Lavrynovych carried out the attacks after being recruited through a Russian-speaking Telegram user known as El Money, who allegedly promised payment.
