Britain needs to keep a cool head over the conflict in the Middle East to address public concerns about escalation, Prime Minister Keir Starmer said on Wednesday, during remarks to Parliament. He spoke after U.S. President Donald Trump intensified criticism of Britain’s stance on strikes against Iran.
Starmer emphasized that the country is worried about potential escalation and urged action with clarity, purpose and calm. He reiterated that the government has been working with the United States on regional security measures.
The prime minister noted that Britain has pre-deployed military assets to the region and has been liaising closely with the United States. The assets mentioned include air defence and counter-drone systems as well as F-35 jets. Reuters reported on the remarks.
